Karen Wise has been photographing food, still life, and weddings for over ten years. Shortly after graduating from RISD, Karen moved to New York City to assist several renowned food and still life photographers while continuing her own fine art work.
It didn’t take long before Karen was shooting food assignments of her own for publications such as The New York Times, Time Out New York, and The Boston Globe. Karen also photographed Ruth Reichl for the Gourmet’s Diary of a Foodie, as well as Ming Tsai and Marcus Samuelsson for Simply Ming. At the same time, Karen’s wedding business took off; her work has appeared in New York Magazine, Elegant Bride, and Martha Stewart Weddings. In spring, 2008 Karen was named one of the Top Ten Wedding Photographers in the World by American Photo Magazine, and published in Vogue India, Marie Claire China, ELLE Japan, and Photo District News (PDN).
Karen’s cookbook photography credits include “The Way We Cook”, by Julie Riven and Sheryl Julian, published by Houghton Mifflin Co., and the recently completed “Savoring The Hamptons” with renowned food writer Silvia Lehrer, published by Running Press.
Karen Wise currently splits her time between Brooklyn, NY and Los Angeles, CA. She is represented by Jason Allen Ashlock (646.484.6419) and can be reached directly at 917.539.9908
